ComCord (Community Coordination Committee)
ComCord represents the Engage pillar of our chapter, focusing on direct hands-on face-to-face engagement with community members of color in Santa Cruz. ComCoord is the primary arm responsible for all NAACP engagements with the local Santa Cruz community. Invested in creating a pipeline for vulnerable high school students to higher education. With a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to youth mentorship. Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Regular meetings with key community development partners (like United Way charity organization, Boys and Girls Club SC, SC Volunteer Center, Santa Cruz NAACP, Live Oaks Unified School District)

ComCord Taskforces:
Retention Taskforce

Focuses on strategic recruitment efforts to find talented members of the POC community, and intersect folks into NAACP work. Filter and bring ideas to light by supporting retention initiatives and streamlining membership processes for the entire organization (Ex. Putting out search for CAN Director, recommending potential leaders who folks identify as holding trust within their spaces as members of committees/task forces)

Black Mentorship Taskforce

Connects with ABC Santa Cruz High School Students and provide support and guidance through established curriculum and ongoing support through participation in our mentorship program. We work to encourage/support Black and POC students to gain social, political, and cultural autonomy. In doing so, our mentors help BIPOC youth in:
